I am a strong supporter of Axe the Beer Tax, an excellent campaign to save the British pub.

Additionally I am a member of the All-Party Parliamentary Save the Pub Group. The group is demanding no further increases in beer duty; control on the over-promotion of alcohol in supermarkets; and support for the British pub as a vital part of community life.

At the moment 36 pubs are closing every week. A great British tradition is at risk. The success of the Coachmaker’s Arms and new pubs, such as the White Swan in Stoke, show how popular a good pub can be. They need our support.
